•The health benefits of

How use it?
There is no particular recommended serving size of maca according to
experts, however most people feel best when starting with about 1 tablespoon
daily (in powder form) and possibly working their way up to 2-3 tablespoons,
spread throughout the day. Because maca can help increase energy and stamina,
many people like to consume it before exercising.
Maca is good in smoothies,
salads, drinks, cooked foods, and juices. A couple of easy and tasty ways to
use it: Our easy No-Bake Vegan Cocoa Maca-roons; and two
delicious smoothies — Mocha Maca Banana Smoothie and Strawberry-Vanilla Maca Smoothie.
Don’t add it to
anything that’s very hot because it will lose all its benefits. The taste can
be a bit odd at first but it gets more tolerable and it depends on what you mix
it with. Its flavor has been described as “malted” or like toasted oats.
Smoothies, puddings, raw sweets, and juices seem to be the best ways to use
maca powder.
SACHA INCHI
Plukenetiavolubilis, commonly
known assachainchi, sacha peanut, mountain peanut or Inca-peanut, is a perennial
plantwith somewhat hairy leaves, in theEuphorbiaceous. It is native to much of
tropical South America, Peru.
In
the Amazon Rainforest in Peru, it has been cultivated
by indigenous people for centuries, and will grow in warm climates up
to altitudes of 1,700 meters (5,500 feet) as long as there is continued
availability of water and good drainage. It grows better in acidic soils
and alluvial flats near rivers.
Lot
of Omega 3,6, and 9 oils – SachaInchi contains lots of great Omega 3,6, and 9
oils thus helping to decrease inflammation and create cardiovascular health.
In
fact SachaInchi seeds contain over 17 times the amount of Omega 3 oil found in
salmon. They contain 6 grams of Omega 3 oil per ounce. And SachaInchi seeds
around best in providing lots of Omega 3 oil….better than almost any food.
·
What
are the benefits?
Sachainchi,
also known as the Inca peanut, is the seed of a plant that grows in the
highlands of Peru. Despite being a fairly recent discovery in the health
community of the United States, sachainchi has been cultivated and used as a
food source for 3,000 years in the Amazon rainforest. The fruit that these
seeds grow in is inedible, but when lightly roasted with low heat the seeds
take on a crisp nutty flavor.
Sachainchi
is much more than just a pleasant snack food. These seeds are rich in protein,
omega 3, 6, and 9, alpha tocopherol vitamin E, carotenoids (vitamin A), and
fiber. This superfood is easily digested and unlikely to cause allergies or
irritation. The oil is also available. It has a similar flavor to olive oil,
just slightly lighter and nuttier, but it contains more protein and omega 3.
1. Cholesterol –
Sachainchi lowers LDL and raises HDL cholesterol. Cholesterol levels may not
be the biggest marker for cardiovascular problems we once thought them to be,
but they are still a concern and can reflect dietary problems and genetic
dispositions toward some diseases.
|
6. Diabetes –
Omega 3 helps control glucose levels. Many doctors and researchers argue that
omega 3 may actually reduce insulin resistance in those with type 2 diabetes.
Omega 3 also lowers triglyceride levels, which are often high in diabetics.
|
2. Well Being –
These seeds contain a good amount of tryptophan, a precursor for serotonin.
Serotonin is a feel-good hormone and neurotransmitter that helps us deal with
stress and feel calm and happy.
|
7. Bone Health –
Omega 3s help the body absorb calcium. Foods rich in omega 3 improve bone
density, staving off some of the deterioration that occurs as we age.
|
3. Weight Loss –
Higher serotonin levels, thanks to the tryptophan, also regulate appetite so
we don’t get cravings, overeat, or snack more than we need to.
|
8. Vision – The
vitamin E, vitamin A, and omegas in sachainchi can improve vision and
maintain eye health. Like the brain, the eyes rely on a good amount of fat,
and are prone to inflammatory damage, especially as we get older.
|
4. Brain Health – The
majority of our brain is composed of fat. We need good, healthy fats to
resupply those cells and to continually fight inflammation.
|
9. Joint Health – The
anti-inflammatory nature of sachainchi may make it a good supplement to ease
joint pain and rheumatoid arthritis. Consider combining sachainchi oil with
ginger for even more benefits.
|
5. Heart Health –
Sachainchi improves circulation while lowering blood pressure, cholesterol,
and inflammation throughout the body.
|
10. Skin and Hair –
Omega 3 fatty acids are vital to healthy hair and skin. They help us regulate
oil production, keep skin elastic, lock in hydration, protect against sun
damage, and help repair damage when it occurs.

How to
Use Brazil Nuts
It’s best to eat Brazil nuts raw or blanched,
although they can be roasted and salted like most nuts. Brazil nuts can also be
sweetened and crushed for dessert toppings or even made into puddings, dips and
cheeses.
Brazil nut milk is a highly nutritious
and tasty alternative to almond, soy or regular dairy milk. However, it should
only be used in small amounts or on occasion so you don’t overdo it in the
selenium department.
When it comes to eating brazil nuts by themselves as a snack, one to six
per day is a typical recommended amount with one to two being sufficient
and safest. You don’t want to overdo it with Brazil nuts due to their high
selenium content.
Brazil nut oil is used traditionally in
dressings for salads and marinades in South America as well.
LUCUMA POWDER
Lucuma Powder is made from whole
Peruvian lucuma fruit that has been dried at low temperatures and milled into a
fine powder. This low-glycemic sweetener contains many nutrients including
beta-carotene, iron, zinc, vitamin B3, calcium and protein. Yellow lucuma
powder has a unique, maple-like taste that’s a delight in a variety of recipes.
Lucuma was viewed in the ancient Peruvian cosmic vision as a symbol of
fertility and creation. Traditionally known as the “Gold of the Incas”, the
orange and yellow pulpy lucuma fruit (Pouteriaobovata,
or Lucumaobovata) has
been found carved on ceramics discovered in archeological excavations
·
How

caramel-coloured powder is versatile and easy to use; just mix it in with any
food that would benefit from the maple rich natural fruit flavor.
Ø Or,
failing that, try blending it into a super healthy smoothie.
QUINOA
Quinoais the common name forChenopodium quinoa of
the flowering plant family Amaranthaceae. It is
grown as a grain crop primarily
for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a
true cereal, as it is not a grass. Quinoa
is closely related to species such as beetroot and spinach and amaranth,
another pseudocereal (which it closely resembles).
Quinoa
originated in the Andean region
of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia and
Chile, and was domesticated 3,000 to 4,000 years ago for human consumption
in the Lake Titicaca basin of Peru and Bolivia, though archaeological
evidence shows a non-domesticated association with pastoral herding 5,200 to
7,000 years ago.
